On Thursday 19th January Lower Two visited Sky Academy Studios’, the children worked with professional studio staff in a bespoke studio to create their own movie trailers. This experience supports the curriculum, specifically: fiction writing, composition, understanding of genre, character development and reviewing and refining their story ideas.
Before we attended Sky Studios the children worked in groups to come up with a story idea and produce a storyboard. During the visit, the children received a behind-the-scenes tour of Sky Sports News. The children had the opportunity to get hands-on and use some cutting-edge technology which included; broadcast quality microphones and cameras, touch screen editing software that was used to select the green screen backdrops, edit clips, and add special effects, sounds and music, as well as getting to dress up with a variety of outfits and props from wardrobe.
Each group was supported by a member of the Sky team who trained them on the studio equipment and made sure they delivered their trailer in time for transmission. After working in four studio teams to create their trailer, the class gathered for a final screening of their work.
