The theme this year was the Paris Olympics 2024-and what a week it has been! The children learnt about Olympic sports and the names of countries in their French or Spanish lessons and then about the geography and culture of their chosen countries with their class teachers. So many exciting things happened across the school- to name just a few: Transition made a Spanish breakfast, Intermediate learned how to write their names in the Greek alphabet and learned about Greek Gods, U1 learned basic phrases and THE NUMBERS 1-10 in German, L1 received a visit from Mrs Nelson who taught them some Portuguese, Kindergarten tasted some Indian sweets and fresh mangoes and L2 tried some Chinese snacks. U2 will have a visitor from Ghana on Monday who will teach them even more about the country and bring Jollof rice for tasting!

Everybody learned a dance from their class’s chosen country and the day culminated in an Olympic Style closing ceremony with a parade of the flags and a performance to the whole school of their dances.

The children looked incredible- the school hall was a sea of colour- many thanks to parents who made such an effort with their outfits and to those who provided foods from their own countries for the children to try. It was a brilliant team effort and we can’t wait to do it again next year!
